Bhagwant Mann | AAP ka ‘Nasheri’ CM candidate

Picture
“Social media campaign - 'Paanch Saal Bhagwant Mann' (an offshoot of 'Paanch Saal Kejriwal') besides Facebook pages like ‘Bhagwant Mann - Next CM of Punjab’ are going viral despite his denial of having initiated such campaigns.”
In a party, which lacks base, orientation and leadership, Bhagwant Mann is and perhaps the only AAP leader from Punjab aspiring to be Chief Minister of Punjab. He has never confronted his aspiration and never officially projected himself as chief ministerial candidate of the party but his intentions are quite apparent.

Replying to a media query in a recently held press conference he said that he wouldn’t mind pasting his party’s election symbol in place of poster of CM candidate.  But, in same breath he went on to blow his own trumpet and talked of having been judged as one of the most active parliamentarians. He went on to add that he had raised the maximum questions and taken part in debates, and had addressed maximum number of rallies and meetings in the state.

In a party, where all leaders including state convener Sanjay Singh are in favor of pushing party ideology instead of any individual, Bhagwant Mann is the only leader advocating the announcement of CM candidate as early as possible. It not only shows infighting within the party but also validates Bhagwant Mann’s aspiration of becoming CM of Punjab.

Bhagwant Mann is a crowd puller and popular among masses. But grabbing eyeballs by indulging in cheap antics is what he is known for. It is an open secret that he can’t do without alcohol and he himself is not aware of his action when he is under the influence of liquor. Whether showing disrespect to sanctity of parliament or hurting Sikh sentiments by going in front of holy ‘Guru Granth Sahib’ in a drunken state, he has a long list of going to public in inebriated condition.

In his two years of political career as MP, the only achievement he shouts loudly, is taking up the issue of abducted youth in Iraq by IS. But ironically he was found in an inebriated condition when he was addressing a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club, which was held in wake of this issue.

Bhagwant Mann is an elected representative of people but ironically he doesn’t even abide by the basic democratic ethics. He is acting foolishly by claiming to be next CM of Punjab. Rather he should listen to his party colleague’s advice of seeking expert help of a de-addiction centre.
